The Tiandy TC-P3S06-GIG is a 4-port Gigabit PoE switch with two dedicated Gigabit SFP uplink slots and a 60W total PoE power budget. Designed for IP surveillance and other PoE networking applications, it provides Gigabit data connectivity, integrated device power and selectable network operating modes.
- 4 Gigabit PoE ports: 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 connections for compatible powered network devices.
- 2 Gigabit SFP uplinks: 1000Mbps SFP slots for connecting to suitable network infrastructure using compatible transceivers.
- 60W total PoE budget: Supports IEEE 802.3af/at powered devices, with manufacturer-specified 40W BT support on port 1.
- 12Gbps switching capacity: Store-and-forward switching with 8.928Mpps forwarding performance.
- Three selectable modes: Default, VLAN port isolation and Extend for longer-distance PoE connections.
- Extended transmission: Ports 3 and 4 support distances up to 220m in Extend mode, with data speed reduced to 10Mbps.
- Integrated mains input: AC 100–240V operation, with power and network-status indicators.
Connection note: The two dedicated uplinks are SFP slots, not RJ45 Ethernet ports. Compatible SFP transceivers and suitable network connections are required when using these uplinks. The 60W PoE budget is shared across the powered ports.
Description
Tiandy TC-P3S06-GIG – 4-Port Gigabit PoE Switch with SFP Uplinks
When building a compact IP surveillance network, the Tiandy TC-P3S06-GIG (TC-P3S06 Spec:H/0402/AT/60) provides four Gigabit Ethernet connections capable of delivering both network data and Power over Ethernet through the same cabling. Its combination of Gigabit PoE ports, dedicated SFP uplinks and selectable transmission modes makes it particularly useful where camera connectivity and network infrastructure need to be planned together.
All four RJ45 PoE ports support automatic 10/100/1000Mbps negotiation. This allows compatible IP cameras and other PoE devices to receive power and exchange data through their network connections, reducing the need for separate power supplies at each device location.
The switch provides a 60W combined PoE power budget, supporting IEEE 802.3af devices rated up to 15.4W and IEEE 802.3at devices rated up to 30W per port. Tiandy additionally specifies 40W BT capability on port 1. The total power available remains limited to 60W across all connected devices, so installations using several higher-consumption cameras must account for their combined requirements.
Gigabit Performance with Dedicated SFP Connectivity
Unlike a conventional small PoE switch fitted with copper RJ45 uplink ports, this model provides two 1000Mbps SFP slots alongside its four powered Ethernet ports. These slots can accommodate suitable SFP transceivers, allowing connections to compatible network infrastructure, including fibre-based links where the appropriate transceivers and cabling are used.
This arrangement is especially relevant when a camera installation needs to connect back to network equipment through an SFP-based link rather than a conventional copper uplink. The two SFP slots are dedicated network uplinks and do not supply PoE power.
The switching architecture provides 12Gbps bandwidth and 8.928Mpps forwarding performance, with store-and-forward packet handling and a 2K MAC address table. Automatic MDI/MDIX support simplifies Ethernet cable connections, while the built-in indicators assist with checking port activity and operating status.
Three Operating Modes for Different Network Layouts
A hardware mode selector allows the switch to operate in three configurations without requiring software-based network management:
- Default: Normal switching operation, allowing ports to communicate with one another. Standard Ethernet transmission supports distances up to 100m, with automatic 10/100/1000Mbps speed negotiation.
- VLAN: Enables port isolation between the four PoE ports. Connected devices on these ports cannot communicate directly with one another but can communicate through the uplink ports. This is particularly useful for separating camera traffic at the switch level.
- Extend: Allows PoE and data transmission on ports 3 and 4 to reach up to 220m under suitable cabling and installation conditions. These ports operate at 10Mbps in this mode rather than Gigabit speed.
The Extend function offers an alternative for cameras installed beyond the normal 100m Ethernet distance, provided their bandwidth and power requirements are compatible with the reduced transmission speed. VLAN mode provides fixed port isolation rather than the programmable VLAN configuration associated with fully managed network switches.
Power and Installation Considerations
The TC-P3S06-GIG operates from an AC 100–240V mains input and incorporates a 52V power supply for its PoE functions. The switch itself has a specified maximum consumption of 5W, excluding the power delivered to connected PoE devices.
Its compact enclosure measures approximately 200 × 118 × 44.5mm, with a net mass of 0.67kg. The specified operating temperature range is -10°C to +50°C, making appropriate ventilation and environmental protection important during installation.
Before connecting an NVR, router or wider network through either SFP uplink, select transceivers and cabling compatible with the connected equipment. For PoE devices, confirm both the individual port requirements and the combined 60W power budget.
This model is the Gigabit/SFP version of the TC-P3S06 family, distinguished from the TC-P3S06 Spec:F/0420/AT/55 variant, which uses 10/100Mbps RJ45 ports and a different uplink arrangement.
