Our Terms of Service
Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 30 August 2026
Welcome to Stemar Shop.
Stemar Shop is the online store operated by Stemar Security Systems CC. These Terms and Conditions apply when you use our website, create an account, place an order or purchase goods or services from us.
We have tried to keep these terms clear and practical. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to limit any right or remedy available to a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA) or any other applicable South African law.
By placing an order through our website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions together with our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy and Privacy Policy.

Stemar Shop trades primarily as an online retailer supplying products throughout South Africa.
2. Using Our Website
You may use our website for lawful shopping, product research, account management and communication with us.
You may not:
intentionally interfere with the operation or security of the website;
introduce malicious code;
attempt unauthorised access to the website or related systems;
impersonate another person;
use the website for unlawful activity; or
scrape or access the website in a manner that materially disrupts its operation or places an unreasonable burden on our systems.
We may restrict access to the website or an account where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention or unlawful use.
3. Product Information
We take reasonable care to provide accurate product descriptions, photographs, specifications, compatibility information and pricing.
Manufacturers may change packaging, specifications, accessories, firmware, appearance or other minor product details without notice. Product photographs are therefore illustrative where reasonable manufacturing variations exist.
Where compatibility is important, customers are encouraged to check the stated specifications or contact us before purchasing.
If you tell us about a particular purpose for which you require a product and rely on our recommendation, the relevant rights and obligations under applicable consumer law will apply.
Some products are dispatched from distributor or supplier warehouses and may not be physically held at our office. Stock information is updated regularly, but third-party warehouse stock may change before our systems are updated.
4. Prices and VAT
Unless clearly stated otherwise, prices displayed to South African consumers on Stemar Shop include VAT.
All transactions are processed in South African Rand (ZAR).
Delivery charges, payment-related charges or other applicable costs will be disclosed before the customer places the order.
Prices may change from time to time, but a price change will not retrospectively change the agreed price of an order that has already been accepted by us, except where permitted by law.
If an obvious pricing, description or system error occurs, we will contact you before fulfilling the affected order. Any correction, cancellation or refund will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
5. Placing an Order
Before placing an order, you will have an opportunity to review your basket, delivery information, products, quantities and total price and to correct mistakes.
Submitting an order constitutes an offer to purchase the goods or services selected.
An automatically generated “order received” email confirms that our system has received your order. It does not necessarily mean that stock, payment or acceptance of the order has been finally confirmed.
An order is accepted once we have reasonably confirmed the order, payment where applicable, and availability of the goods.
We may decline or cancel an order for a lawful reason, including:
goods becoming unavailable;
suspected fraud or unauthorised payment;
an obvious pricing or system error;
inability to deliver to the nominated location;
a legal or regulatory restriction; or
an age-restricted product being ordered by a person who does not meet our sales requirements.
Where we cancel an order after receiving payment, the amount due to you will be refunded in accordance with applicable law.
6. Availability and Back Orders
All products and services are subject to availability.
If an item becomes unavailable after you order it, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
Depending on the circumstances, you may choose to:
wait for new stock where available;
select a suitable alternative;
amend the order; or
cancel the unavailable item and receive the appropriate refund.
We will not substitute a materially different product without your agreement.
7. Payment
The payment methods currently available will be displayed during checkout and may change from time to time.
These may include EFT, Instant EFT, debit or credit card, mobile payment services, alternative payment services, finance options and other supported methods.
Electronic payments may be processed by independent payment service providers. Their security procedures and, where applicable, their own terms may apply to the payment transaction.
Stemar Shop does not intentionally store customers’ complete debit or credit card details on its website.
For direct EFT payments, dispatch may be delayed until cleared funds have been received.
Where third-party finance is selected, the finance or rental agreement is entered into separately between the customer and the relevant finance provider. The finance provider’s approval criteria and agreement terms apply independently of these Terms and Conditions.
8. Delivery and Collection
Delivery options and charges are displayed on the website or during checkout.
Where free delivery is advertised, the qualifying order value, weight, location and other conditions displayed at the time of ordering will apply.
Most stocked products are prepared for dispatch as quickly as reasonably possible after payment and stock confirmation. Estimated delivery times shown on our website are estimates and may differ depending on location, stock source, weekends, public holidays and courier conditions.
Where goods are dispatched directly from a distributor or supplier warehouse, the parcel may be delivered separately from other items in your order.
We use independent courier and logistics providers. Although courier delays can occur, customers retain any delivery rights available under applicable law.
Goods remain at our risk until delivery has been accepted by you or by a person reasonably authorised to accept delivery at the nominated delivery address, except where the law provides otherwise.
Please ensure that the delivery address and contact information supplied with your order are accurate.
Additional costs arising from an incorrect address, failed delivery or requested re-delivery may be charged where reasonable and permitted by law.
Collection from our office may be available by prior arrangement. Please wait for confirmation that the order is ready before collecting.
9. Online Cooling-Off Rights and Unwanted Returns
South African law provides certain cancellation and cooling-off rights for electronic transactions.
Where the ECTA cooling-off provisions apply, a consumer may cancel an eligible transaction within the applicable statutory period without having to provide a reason. Any refund and return costs will be dealt with as required by law.
Certain transactions are excluded from those cooling-off rights, including some:
goods made to the customer’s specifications;
clearly personalised goods;
goods which by their nature cannot reasonably be returned;
goods that deteriorate or expire rapidly;
unsealed software, audio or video products in circumstances specified by law; and
services which have commenced with the consumer’s consent before expiry of the applicable cooling-off period.
Stemar Shop may provide additional voluntary return rights beyond the statutory minimum. Those arrangements are explained in our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy.
Our voluntary return policy does not reduce or replace statutory consumer rights.
10. Order Cancellations Before Dispatch
If you wish to cancel an order before dispatch, please contact us as soon as possible.
Where the goods have not yet been dispatched and no non-recoverable cost has been incurred, we will normally endeavour to cancel the order without unnecessary charges.
Where goods have been specially manufactured, personalised or otherwise fall within a lawful statutory exclusion, different cancellation conditions may apply.
Any cancellation charge will only be imposed where permitted by law and where reasonable in the circumstances.
11. Defective, Unsafe or Incorrect Goods
Customers are entitled to receive goods that meet the quality and safety standards required by South African consumer law.
Where goods are defective, unsafe, unsuitable for their ordinary intended purpose or otherwise fail to meet the requirements of the CPA, the remedies available under the CPA will apply.
Where the statutory six-month implied warranty of quality applies, eligible defective goods may be returned and the customer may have the right to choose between:
repair;
replacement; or
refund,
subject to the requirements and circumstances set out in the CPA.
We may reasonably inspect or test a returned product to determine the nature and cause of the reported fault.
Damage arising from misuse, physical damage after delivery, incorrect installation, unauthorised modification, abuse or another cause unrelated to a defect in the supplied goods is not automatically a product defect.
Any manufacturer or supplier warranty provided in addition to the CPA is supplementary to statutory consumer rights and does not replace them.
Full procedures are contained in our Returns, Refunds and Warranty Policy.
12. Batteries and Consumable Products
Certain products, including rechargeable batteries, contain components whose performance and capacity naturally change through use and over time.
Battery life can be affected by factors such as:
charging practices;
discharge depth;
temperature;
storage;
application;
usage cycles; and
the equipment in which the battery is installed.
Normal deterioration through ordinary use is not necessarily a product defect.
Manufacturer-specific warranties may also apply and will be stated on the product page or accompanying documentation where relevant.
13. SIM Cards, Data and Connectivity Services
Stemar Shop supplies certain SIM cards, IoT connectivity products, data bundles, activation services and related services provided partly or wholly through third-party networks or service providers.
Cellular and IoT connectivity may depend on factors outside Stemar Shop’s direct control, including:
mobile network availability;
roaming partners;
signal coverage;
congestion;
geographic location;
compatible hardware;
network maintenance;
international or local regulatory requirements; and
changes made by network or platform providers.
We will provide reasonable support for products and services sold by us and, where appropriate, assist in escalating network-related issues to the relevant provider.
Where you request immediate activation of a digital or connectivity service and the service begins with your consent, cancellation or cooling-off rights may be affected to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Activated data, top-ups, subscriptions or other consumed digital services cannot ordinarily be returned simply because they have already been used.
Specific service periods, bundle validity, coverage conditions and renewal requirements displayed with the relevant product also form part of the transaction.
14. Third-Party Apps, Cloud Platforms and Services
Some products sold by Stemar Shop rely on software, mobile applications, cloud services, mobile networks or online platforms operated by the manufacturer or another third party.
Examples may include:
security camera applications;
alarm platforms;
cloud recording;
firmware services;
push notifications;
cellular connectivity; and
subscription services.
These third-party services may have their own terms, privacy policies, subscriptions, geographic limitations and technical requirements.
Stemar Shop cannot control the continuous availability, functionality or future operation of independent third-party platforms.
15. DIY Products, Installation and Compatibility
Unless installation is expressly included in the product or quotation, products purchased through Stemar Shop are supplied on a supply-only / DIY basis.
Some products require technical knowledge, programming, configuration or installation by a suitably competent person.
Customers should check:
power requirements;
product compatibility;
network requirements;
installation requirements;
environmental requirements; and
other relevant specifications
before ordering.
Where you are uncertain, please contact us before purchase.
Damage caused solely by incorrect wiring, installation, programming, incompatible equipment, incorrect voltage, unauthorised modification or failure to follow the manufacturer’s installation requirements may not constitute a manufacturing defect.
16. Personal Defence and Less-Lethal Products
Certain products sold by Stemar Shop, including personal-defence launchers, projectiles, chemical-irritant products and other less-lethal products, are capable of causing injury if used incorrectly.
These products are not toys.
Customers must read and follow all manufacturer instructions, warnings and safety information supplied with or linked to the product.
Stemar Shop does not sell Byrna or Duke launchers or projectiles to persons under the age of 18.
By ordering one of these products, the purchaser confirms that they are at least 18 years old. We reserve the right to request reasonable age confirmation before completing an order.
Customers and users are responsible for ensuring that their possession, carrying, transport and use of a personal-defence product complies with the law applicable to their particular circumstances and location.
Products must be used responsibly and for lawful purposes.
Some projectiles contain chemical irritants or are designed to deliver substantial kinetic energy and may cause injury or other harmful effects. Product-specific safety warnings and manufacturer instructions must be followed.
No personal-defence product can guarantee protection or a particular outcome.
17. Product-Specific Warnings
Some products require specific warnings relating to safety, installation, electrical supply, batteries, chemical substances, high temperatures, moving equipment or other risks.
Where such information is provided on the product page, packaging, user manual or manufacturer documentation, customers should read it before installing or using the product.
Where a product presents a risk of serious injury, unusual risk or another material safety concern, Stemar Shop may display additional warnings prominently on the relevant product page.
18. Returns and Warranty Assessments
Warranty and return requests should be submitted using our Returns Form or by contacting:
Please provide:
the order or invoice number;
product details;
a clear description of the issue; and
any relevant photographs or supporting information.
We may request serial numbers, accessories or other information reasonably required to assess the claim.
Where an inspection is required, the outcome will be communicated after the product has been reasonably assessed.
19. Personal Information and Privacy
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable South African privacy legislation, including POPIA.
Personal information may be processed where reasonably necessary to:
process and deliver orders;
manage payments;
provide invoices;
provide customer support;
handle returns and warranties;
prevent fraud;
administer accounts;
provide requested services; and
comply with applicable legal obligations.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details.
20. Customer Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and login information.
Please notify us if you reasonably believe that your account has been accessed without authorisation.
We may suspend access to an account where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security concerns or unlawful activity.
21. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, content created for Stemar Shop, including website design, written content, graphics and branding, may not be reproduced commercially without permission.
Manufacturer names, logos, photographs and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Nothing on our website grants ownership of a manufacturer’s intellectual property to Stemar Shop or to a website user.
22. Reviews, Comments and User Content
Customers may be able to submit product reviews, questions or other content.
Content must not be unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, abusive, infringing, misleading or contain malicious code.
We may moderate or remove content where reasonably necessary for these reasons.
By voluntarily submitting a product review for publication, you permit us to display that review on Stemar Shop and in reasonable marketing relating to the relevant product, unless otherwise agreed.
23. Website Availability and External Links
We aim to keep Stemar Shop available and functioning correctly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access at all times.
Maintenance, hosting issues, internet outages, cyber incidents or technical failures may occasionally affect website availability.
Our website may contain links to manufacturers, finance providers, payment services, couriers or other third-party websites.
The content, security, terms and privacy practices of independent third-party websites are controlled by those third parties.
24. Consumer Rights and Limitation of Liability
These Terms and Conditions must be read subject to applicable South African consumer law.
Nothing in these Terms:
excludes, restricts or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited;
excludes liability for gross negligence where such exclusion is prohibited by law;
limits statutory rights relating to unsafe, defective or incorrectly supplied goods;
prevents a consumer from exercising rights under the CPA, ECTA or other applicable legislation; or
requires a consumer to waive a right which cannot lawfully be waived.
Products must be used, installed, operated and maintained in accordance with their intended purpose, manufacturer instructions and applicable laws.
Stemar Shop is not responsible for loss, damage or injury caused solely by misuse, unlawful use, incorrect installation, unauthorised modification, incompatible equipment or failure to follow manufacturer instructions where Stemar Shop is not legally responsible for that loss, damage or injury.
Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with a mandatory provision of applicable South African law, the applicable law will prevail.
25. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
Occasionally an event outside our reasonable control may affect stock availability, delivery or our ability to provide a service.
Examples include:
severe weather;
natural disasters;
national infrastructure failures;
civil disturbances;
widespread telecommunications or network outages;
import or customs delays;
transport disruptions; or
other extraordinary events beyond our reasonable control.
We will take reasonable steps to minimise the disruption and keep affected customers informed.
26. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you have a problem with an order, product or service, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to resolve it.

Telephone: 011 791 5515
Customers may also approach the National Consumer Commission, an applicable consumer protection authority, ombud or other dispute-resolution body where entitled to do so.
27. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions and transactions concluded through Stemar Shop are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any legal proceedings will be subject to the jurisdiction of a competent South African court.
28. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions where reasonably necessary to reflect changes in our business, website, products, technology or applicable law.
The latest version will be published on this page together with the date on which it was last updated.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that have already arisen from a completed transaction.
29. Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed or limited to the extent necessary without affecting the remaining provisions.
