The TP-Link CPE605 combines a high-gain 23dBi directional antenna with a 5GHz 802.11a/n radio to create focused outdoor wireless links where running network cable between locations is impractical.

Its directional design is intended for accurately aligned links rather than general wide-area Wi-Fi coverage, making it suitable for point-to-point connections between buildings and compatible point-to-multipoint Pharos networks.

How It Works

The directional antenna concentrates radio energy into a narrow beam. For a point-to-point link, compatible outdoor wireless units are installed with suitable line of sight and accurately aligned towards each other. The CPE605 is powered through its Ethernet cable using passive PoE, reducing the need for a separate power outlet at the outdoor mounting position.

Before You Buy

• The CPE605 operates on the 5GHz band and supports IEEE 802.11a/n; it is not a dual-band Wi-Fi access point.
• Its single wired network interface is 10/100Mbps Ethernet, so it does not provide a Gigabit Ethernet connection.
• Power is supplied through passive PoE over the Ethernet connection. The supported input range is 16–27V DC, and a 24V 0.25A passive PoE adapter is included.
• Long-distance performance depends on alignment, permitted transmit power, interference, obstacles and environmental conditions. TP-Link’s stated distance is not a guaranteed installation range.
• Proper grounding and shielded cabling are important for the specified ESD and lightning-protection measures.
