Description

Hikvision DS-7116HGHI-M1 16-Channel Turbo HD DVR for Flexible Analogue and IP CCTV Systems

The Hikvision DS-7116HGHI-M1 provides a practical recorder upgrade for CCTV systems that use coaxial analogue cameras while still allowing selected IP cameras to be added. Its 16 BNC inputs support HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS camera formats, making it useful when retaining existing cabling or mixing compatible camera technologies.

Recording is supported up to 1080p Lite at 15 fps, while H.265 Pro+ compression helps make more efficient use of hard-drive capacity. Motion Detection 2.0 adds human and vehicle classification on analogue channels to make event searching more useful and reduce unwanted motion triggers.

Is This Right for You?

  • Suitable for homes, offices, retail sites and other installations requiring up to 16 analogue CCTV camera connections.
  • A good choice when upgrading an existing coaxial system because it supports HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS inputs.
  • Useful where a mainly analogue installation also needs selected IP cameras added to the recorder.
  • Choose a higher-resolution recorder if you require native high-resolution recording above 1080p Lite from your analogue cameras.

Why Choose This Product?

  • Flexible camera compatibility: Support for HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, CVBS and IP video allows compatible existing cameras and cabling to remain in service during an upgrade.
  • Smarter motion searching: Motion Detection 2.0 can distinguish human and vehicle targets on analogue channels, helping reduce motion events caused by objects such as moving foliage or changing light.
  • More efficient recording: H.265 Pro+ compression helps reduce the storage required for recorded footage compared with less efficient compression formats.
  • Room for IP expansion: Two IP camera channels are supported, with configuration expandable to as many as 18 IP channels and IP camera resolution up to 5MP.
  • Remote system access: Hik-Connect support allows the recorder to be connected to a network for compatible remote monitoring and management.
  • Audio over coax support: Compatible HDTVI cameras can carry audio through the coaxial connection, reducing the need for separate audio cabling.

Before You Buy

  • The DVR accepts 1080p HDTVI, AHD and HDCVI camera signals, but its recording capability is up to 1080p Lite at 15 fps. It should not be described as a native full-1080p recorder.
  • One internal SATA interface is provided for a surveillance hard drive up to 10TB. A hard drive is required if you want the DVR to store recordings locally.
  • IP camera support starts at 2 channels and can be expanded up to 18 IP channels, with supported IP camera resolution up to 5MP.
  • An Ethernet connection to your router or network is required for Hik-Connect and other network functions.
  • The recorder requires a 12V DC, 1.6A power supply.

Storage Guide – Choosing the Right Hard Drive

The amount of storage you need depends on the number of cameras, camera resolution, recording schedule, and how long you want to keep your footage.

Quick Reference

Suggested starting capacities for typical CCTV systems:

Number of CamerasSuggested Drive Capacity
1–4 cameras1TB–2TB
5–8 cameras2TB–4TB
9–16 cameras6TB–10TB
More than 16 camerasCalculate your requirements

Choose a larger drive when recording continuously, using high-resolution cameras, or keeping footage for longer periods.

Consider More Storage If You:

  • Record continuously, 24 hours a day
  • Use 4MP, 6MP, or 8MP/4K cameras
  • Need to retain footage for 30 days or longer
  • Have busy areas with frequent movement
  • Record audio together with video
  • Plan to add more cameras later

Calculate Your Storage Requirements
