Description

Hikvision iDS-7216HQHI-M2/XT AcuSense DVR for Intelligent 16-Channel CCTV Recording

The Hikvision iDS-7216HQHI-M2/XT combines 16 analogue camera inputs with AcuSense deep-learning functions designed to make motion events more useful and recorded footage easier to search. It supports HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS cameras, making it well suited to upgrading or expanding compatible coaxial CCTV systems.

Alongside Motion Detection 2.0, the recorder supports facial recognition, advanced perimeter protection and AcuSearch. Dual internal hard-drive support, 4K HDMI output and hybrid IP-camera compatibility make it a capable recorder for larger homes, retail sites, offices and commercial installations.

Is This Right for You?

  • Suitable for CCTV systems requiring up to 16 directly connected analogue cameras.
  • A practical upgrade where compatible HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI or CVBS cameras and coaxial cabling are already installed.
  • Useful where human and vehicle filtering can reduce irrelevant motion events and speed up footage searches.
  • Suitable for hybrid systems that need compatible IP cameras alongside analogue cameras.

Why Choose This Product?

  • Smarter motion filtering: Motion Detection 2.0 classifies human and vehicle targets on all analogue channels, helping reduce false events caused by movement such as foliage and changing light.
  • Advanced AcuSense analysis: The DVR supports facial recognition on up to 4 channels or advanced perimeter protection on up to 8 analogue channels.
  • Faster recorded-video searches: AcuSearch is supported on up to 8 channels to help locate relevant human or vehicle events more efficiently.
  • Flexible camera compatibility: HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, CVBS and IP support allows the recorder to work in mixed or upgraded CCTV installations.
  • Large hybrid capacity: Eight IP camera inputs are supported as standard, with configuration up to 24 IP channels and resolution up to 6MP per IP camera.
  • Dual-drive storage: Two SATA interfaces allow two hard drives of up to 12TB each, providing significantly more recording capacity than single-drive DVRs.
  • 4K monitor output: HDMI output supports resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz for compatible displays.

Before You Buy

  • The DVR provides 16 physical analogue BNC camera inputs.
  • Eight IP camera inputs are supported as standard and the system can be configured for up to 24 IP channels, with compatible IP cameras up to 6MP.
  • Recording supports up to 3K / 5MP Lite at 12 fps. Native 1080p recording is supported at up to 15 fps when 1080p Lite mode is not enabled.
  • Two internal SATA interfaces support hard drives up to 12TB each. Surveillance hard drives are required for local recording.
  • The standard iDS-7216HQHI-M2/XT does not include alarm I/O; Hikvision lists alarm connectivity as optional on other hardware configurations, so do not confuse those versions with this model.
  • An Ethernet connection is required for Hik-Connect and network functions.
  • The recorder requires a 12V DC, 3.3A power supply.

Storage Guide – Choosing the Right Hard Drive

The amount of storage you need depends on the number of cameras, camera resolution, recording schedule, and how long you want to keep your footage.

Quick Reference

Suggested starting capacities for typical CCTV systems:

Number of CamerasSuggested Drive Capacity
1–4 cameras1TB–2TB
5–8 cameras2TB–4TB
9–16 cameras6TB–10TB
More than 16 camerasCalculate your requirements

Choose a larger drive when recording continuously, using high-resolution cameras, or keeping footage for longer periods.

Consider More Storage If You:

  • Record continuously, 24 hours a day
  • Use 4MP, 6MP, or 8MP/4K cameras
  • Need to retain footage for 30 days or longer
  • Have busy areas with frequent movement
  • Record audio together with video
  • Plan to add more cameras later
