Description

Hikvision DS-7108HGHI-M1 8-Channel Turbo HD DVR for Flexible Analogue CCTV Recording

The Hikvision DS-7108HGHI-M1 is a compact 8-channel DVR designed for CCTV installations using compatible coaxial cameras. It supports HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS video, making it a practical choice when retaining existing cameras and cabling or upgrading an older analogue recorder.

Motion Detection 2.0 adds human and vehicle classification across the analogue channels, while H.265 Pro+ compression helps make efficient use of available hard-drive storage. Compatible IP cameras can also be added when a hybrid analogue and network-camera system is required.

Is This Right for You?

  • Suitable for homes, offices, shops and other CCTV systems requiring up to 8 directly connected analogue cameras.
  • A practical replacement or upgrade where compatible HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI or CVBS cameras and coaxial cabling are already installed.
  • Useful when human and vehicle filtering can make motion-event searches more relevant.
  • Choose another recorder if you require native full-1080p recording rather than 1080p Lite, or need more than 4TB of internal storage.

Why Choose This Product?

  • Smarter motion detection: Motion Detection 2.0 classifies human and vehicle targets on the analogue channels, helping reduce nuisance events caused by movement such as leaves and changing light.
  • Flexible analogue compatibility: HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS support makes the recorder suitable for many existing coaxial CCTV installations.
  • Room for IP cameras: Two IP channels are available as standard, with configuration supporting up to 10 IP cameras and resolution up to 5MP.
  • Efficient recording: H.265 Pro+ compression helps reduce storage requirements while retaining useful recorded video quality.
  • Audio over coax: Compatible cameras can carry audio over the same coaxial connection used for video.
  • Remote access: Hik-Connect support allows compatible remote viewing and system access when the DVR is connected to a network and configured accordingly.

Before You Buy

  • The DVR has 8 physical analogue BNC inputs and supports HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI and CVBS camera formats.
  • The maximum analogue encoding capability is 1080p Lite at 15 fps. This is not native full-1080p recording.
  • Two IP camera channels are supported and the system can be configured for up to 10 IP channels, with compatible IP cameras up to 5MP.
  • One internal SATA interface supports a hard drive up to 4TB. A surveillance hard drive is required if you want the DVR to store recordings locally.
  • An Ethernet connection to your network or router is required for Hik-Connect and other network functions.
  • The recorder requires a 12V DC, 1.5A power supply.

Storage Guide – Choosing the Right Hard Drive

The amount of storage you need depends on the number of cameras, camera resolution, recording schedule, and how long you want to keep your footage.

Quick Reference

Suggested starting capacities for typical CCTV systems:

Number of CamerasSuggested Drive Capacity
1–4 cameras1TB–2TB
5–8 cameras2TB–4TB
9–16 cameras6TB–10TB
More than 16 camerasCalculate your requirements

Choose a larger drive when recording continuously, using high-resolution cameras, or keeping footage for longer periods.

Consider More Storage If You:

  • Record continuously, 24 hours a day
  • Use 4MP, 6MP, or 8MP/4K cameras
  • Need to retain footage for 30 days or longer
  • Have busy areas with frequent movement
  • Record audio together with video
  • Plan to add more cameras later
