Description
TP-Link MC200CM Gigabit Multi-Mode Media Converter for SC Fibre Links
The TP-Link MC200CM provides a straightforward way to bridge a Gigabit copper Ethernet connection and a 1000BASE-SX multi-mode fibre link. It is useful where an Ethernet network needs to extend beyond the normal 100m copper-cable limit.
Its SC/UPC fibre interface operates at 850nm and supports multi-mode fibre distances of up to 550m with 50/125µm fibre, while the Gigabit RJ45 connection automatically handles MDI/MDIX.
Is This Right for You?
- Choose the MC200CM when your fibre link uses 1000BASE-SX multi-mode fibre and SC connectors.
- It suits network extensions between buildings, cabinets or equipment locations where copper Ethernet alone cannot cover the required distance.
- For single-mode fibre or substantially longer fibre runs, use a converter designed for the appropriate single-mode standard instead.
Why Choose This Product?
- Extend Gigabit Ethernet over fibre: The converter bridges 1000BASE-T copper Ethernet and 1000BASE-SX fibre without replacing compatible network equipment at each end.
- Up to 550m on suitable fibre: 50/125µm multi-mode fibre supports links up to 550m, giving considerably more reach than a standard copper Ethernet segment.
- Simple SC connectivity: The dedicated 1000Mbps SC/UPC interface is designed for common multi-mode fibre installations rather than requiring a separate SFP module.
- Flexible deployment: The MC200CM can operate as a standalone unit or be installed in a compatible TP-Link TL-MC1400 media-converter chassis.
- Easy status checking: Front-panel power and link/activity indicators help confirm the converter and network link are operating.
Before You Buy
- The fibre connection must use compatible 1000BASE-SX multi-mode fibre with an SC-type connection.
- Maximum fibre distance is 550m with 50/125µm fibre and 220m with 62.5/125µm fibre.
- The RJ45 side supports Category 5 or Category 5e UTP cable up to 100m, or compatible EIA/TIA-568 100Ω STP.
- The converter uses an external power adapter and has a maximum power consumption of 1.66W.
- A TP-Link TL-MC1400 chassis is optional and is not required for standalone operation.
