The Zartek ZA-721 is a 16-channel handheld UHF radio designed for straightforward team communication in environments such as security operations, warehouses, hotels, events and general outdoor use. Its factory programming allows licence-free operation at 500 mW, so compatible radios can be put to work without requiring a radio licence for the standard preset channels.

A detachable antenna, rechargeable Li-ion battery, desktop USB charging system and 2-pin accessory connection make the ZA-721 a practical choice where radios are used regularly and may need headsets, replacement batteries or programming accessories.

Zartek gives rough terrain-dependent range estimates of approximately 300 m to 1.2 km in indoor or shopping-centre environments, 2–6 km in residential or over-water conditions, and 10–30 km from elevated line-of-sight positions. These figures are estimates rather than guaranteed operating distances.

Before You Buy

The ZA-721 is factory programmed for licence-free use on the 446 MHz and 464 MHz bands at 500 mW. Operation from 400–470 MHz at up to 2 W requires an appropriate ICASA licence and dealer programming. Do not treat the programmable 2 W mode as licence-free operation.

For radio-to-radio communication, both radios must use matching frequencies and compatible tone settings. At factory settings, Zartek confirms direct compatibility with all 16 channels of the TX-8, ZA-720 and ZA-723, channels 1–12 of the ZA-748, ZA-725 and ZA-758, and the first eight channels of the ZA-708.

The radio is described by the manufacturer as low-level splash resistant but is not waterproof. Protect it from rain, immersion and excessively wet environments.

Optional programming requires the compatible Zartek GE-254 USB programming cable and PC software. Compatible headsets, spare batteries, carrying accessories and external antenna equipment are sold separately.

Zartek provides a 12-month limited factory warranty on the main unit. The manufacturer’s manual excludes the speaker, battery and accessories from this warranty.
