The Tiandy TC-P3S010-GIG is a 10-port PoE+ network switch designed to connect and power up to eight compatible IP cameras or other PoE devices. It combines eight 10/100Mbps PoE ports with two Gigabit RJ45 uplinks, a 90W total PoE power budget and selectable operating modes for CCTV network installations.
- 8 × 10/100Mbps PoE+ ports supporting IEEE 802.3af/at devices, with up to 30W per port subject to the total power budget.
- 2 × 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit uplink ports for connecting an NVR, router or upstream network switch.
- 90W total PoE budget with automatic power prioritisation from port 1 (highest priority) to port 8.
- 5.6Gbps switching capacity and 4.166Mpps packet forwarding performance.
- Three selectable operating modes: Default, VLAN port isolation and Extend.
- Extend Mode: supports links up to 220m by reducing PoE port speeds to 10Mbps, subject to cabling and connected-device conditions.
- PoE Watchdog: enabled in VLAN and Extend modes for automatic recovery of unresponsive PoE devices.
- Electrical protection: 4kV common-mode surge protection and ESD protection rated at 8kV air / 6kV contact.
- Power: 100–240V AC mains input.
Important: Gigabit speeds apply to the two uplink ports. The eight powered device ports operate at 10/100Mbps.
Description
Tiandy TC-P3S010-GIG – 8-Port PoE+ Switch with Gigabit Uplinks
Connecting eight PoE security cameras does not necessarily require an expensive managed network switch. The Tiandy TC-P3S010-GIG (Spec:H/0820/AT/90) brings eight powered Ethernet connections, two Gigabit uplinks and a 90W PoE budget together in a compact switch designed for CCTV network installations.
Each of the eight PoE ports carries both network data and electrical power over a compatible Ethernet cable, reducing the need for separate power supplies at individual camera positions. The switch supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at, allowing standard PoE and PoE+ powered devices to be connected within the available power budget.
An important distinction is the network speed. The eight camera-facing PoE ports operate at 10/100Mbps, while the two additional RJ45 uplink ports support Gigabit Ethernet. This configuration allows the switch to aggregate traffic from multiple connected cameras towards an NVR or wider network without limiting the uplink connection to 100Mbps.
90W PoE Budget with Port Prioritisation
The TC-P3S010-GIG provides a maximum combined PoE output of 90W across its eight powered ports. Individual ports support the IEEE 802.3at standard, allowing compatible devices to receive up to 30W per port, provided the overall budget is not exceeded.
This distinction matters when planning a CCTV installation. Eight connected devices cannot all draw 30W simultaneously because their combined requirement would exceed the switch’s available 90W. Installers should check the actual maximum power consumption of their cameras, particularly models with infrared illumination, integrated spotlights or motorised functions.
The switch also implements an automatic PoE power-priority sequence from port 1 through port 8. Lower-numbered ports receive higher priority, allowing critical devices to be connected to the preferred positions when the available PoE power becomes constrained.
Three Operating Modes for Different CCTV Installations
A physical DIP switch allows the TC-P3S010-GIG to change its network behaviour without a software configuration interface.
- Default Mode: All ports can communicate normally. PoE ports operate at their standard 10/100Mbps speeds, and the automatic PoE Watchdog function is disabled.
- VLAN Mode: PoE ports 1–8 are isolated from one another but retain communication with the uplink ports. This is useful when camera traffic should remain separated between individual device ports. PoE Watchdog is enabled.
- Extend Mode: PoE ports 1–8 operate at a forced 10Mbps link speed to support extended cable transmission up to 220m under suitable installation conditions. PoE Watchdog is enabled in this mode.
The Extend setting is particularly relevant where cameras are positioned beyond conventional 100m Ethernet cable distances. Its extended reach comes at the expense of port bandwidth, so the connected camera’s data requirements and cable quality must be considered before selecting this mode.
When enabled, the PoE Watchdog function provides automatic recovery assistance for connected PoE devices that stop responding, reducing the need for manual intervention at the switch.
Switching Performance and Electrical Protection
The TC-P3S010-GIG uses store-and-forward packet switching with a rated 5.6Gbps switching capacity and 4.166 million packets-per-second forwarding capability. Automatic MDI/MDIX support simplifies Ethernet cable connections, while front-panel indicators assist installers with identifying network links, power status and PoE operation.
The switch incorporates specified 4kV common-mode surge protection on its Ethernet ports, together with 8kV air-discharge and 6kV contact-discharge electrostatic protection. These provisions offer additional electrical resilience but do not replace appropriate earthing and surge-protection practices in exposed CCTV installations.
Operating from a 100–240V AC mains supply, the unit measures 200 × 118 × 44mm and has a net mass of approximately 690g. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for installation in an appropriately ventilated, protected equipment location.
For CCTV networks requiring eight Fast Ethernet PoE connections, a dedicated 90W power budget, Gigabit uplinks and switch-selectable isolation or extended-distance operation, the TC-P3S010-GIG offers a straightforward way to centralise camera power and network connectivity.
