Description
Tiandy TC-C35LQ 6mm Dual-Spectrum Thermal & Optical Bullet Camera
Conventional surveillance cameras record the light reflected from a scene. The Tiandy TC-C35LQ Spec:I5W/E/Y/T/6mm/V4.2 adds another source of information: thermal imaging. By combining a high-resolution optical camera with a dedicated heat-sensitive sensor, it provides complementary views for monitoring outdoor boundaries, access routes and areas where conventional images alone may not reveal all activity.
This Pro Series fixed bullet camera is particularly suited to installations where detecting activity at a distance matters as much as capturing a recognisable picture. Its two imaging channels offer different strengths, allowing a surveillance operator to use thermal information alongside conventional optical video.
Two Imaging Systems, Two Different Purposes
The optical channel uses a 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor producing images up to 2880 × 1620 at 30 frames per second. Its fixed 6mm lens offers a horizontal viewing angle of approximately 53.8°, providing a more concentrated view than a typical wide-angle security camera.
The thermal channel uses a separate 256 × 192 vanadium oxide (VOx) sensor with a 12µm pixel pitch and an approximately 7mm thermal lens. Its narrower 26° horizontal field of view concentrates thermal observation over a defined area. The camera supports a processed thermal video stream up to 1280 × 720 at 25fps; this output resolution should not be confused with the thermal sensor’s native resolution.
The published DORI figures are 120m for detection, 47.6m for observation, 24m for recognition and 12m for identification. These represent different levels of visual detail, not interchangeable guarantees of identifying a person at the maximum detection distance. Actual performance depends on the scene, installation position and environmental conditions.
Intelligent Perimeter Monitoring and Night-Time Visibility
Human and vehicle classification helps the camera distinguish relevant movement from general scene activity. Tripwire, double-tripwire and perimeter analytics provide options for monitoring defined boundaries, while configurable alarm responses can trigger recording, image capture or supported notification methods.
The optical camera’s low-light sensitivity is rated at 0.002 lux at F1.6 with automatic gain control enabled. When additional illumination is required, Smart IR provides a stated range of up to 50m. The camera also incorporates two white warning LEDs, with a stated white-light distance of 15m.
Wide Dynamic Range of 120dB helps preserve detail in scenes containing both bright and dark areas. Additional image-processing functions include backlight compensation, highlight compensation, automatic gain control and 3D digital noise reduction.
Recording, Audio and Network Integration
The TC-C35LQ connects through a standard RJ45 Ethernet interface and supports S+265, H.265, H.264 and Motion JPEG compression. These options provide flexibility when balancing image quality, recording bandwidth and storage requirements.
A built-in microphone and loudspeaker support two-way audio, supplemented by external audio connections. Alarm inputs and an alarm output provide integration options for compatible external equipment.
For local recording, the camera accepts microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards with capacities up to 512GB. A memory card is purchased separately. The camera also supports ONVIF Profiles S, T, G and M, RTSP and Tiandy’s Easy7 management software, allowing integration into suitably compatible network surveillance systems.
Outdoor Installation and Power Requirements
The IP67-rated housing is designed for demanding outdoor surveillance environments. Its specified operating range of -40°C to +65°C accommodates a broad range of installation conditions.
Power can be supplied through 12V DC or a suitable IEEE 802.3at PoE connection. The South African distributor specifies maximum consumption of 9W on DC power and 10W through PoE. A suitable power source and network connection must be provided as part of the installation.
The fixed-lens design makes camera positioning important. The 6mm optical lens and narrower thermal view should be aimed towards the intended detection zone, particularly where coverage of a specific fence line, entrance or perimeter section is required. The camera is a network CCTV device rather than a standalone wireless consumer camera.
