The Zartek TX-8 is a compact UHF handheld radio designed for straightforward local team communication without relying on cellular airtime or data. At its factory settings it operates at 500 mW on licence-free 446 MHz and 464 MHz frequencies, with clear audio, channel announcements and a rechargeable Li-ion battery.

All three pack options use the same TX-8 radio. The choice comes down to the number of users and whether personal PTT earphones are required.

Choose the Right Option

Single Pack: Choose this for one user or when adding an extra TX-8 to an existing compatible radio setup. It includes one radio, battery and its own charging equipment.

Twin Pack: The practical choice for two users. It includes two radios, two batteries, two desktop charging cradles and USB cables, with one dual-port USB mains adaptor for charging the pair.

Super Pack: Includes the same core two-radio setup as the Twin Pack, with two earphones with in-line PTT microphones added for users who want personal audio accessories from the start.

Before You Buy

Licence-free use: The TX-8 is factory programmed for 500 mW operation on the permitted 446 MHz and 464 MHz channels. Operation at up to 3 W on other frequencies within 400–470 MHz requires an appropriate ICASA licence and dealer programming. Do not change the radio to licensed frequencies or higher transmit power for licence-free use.

Using the TX-8 with other radios: Radios must use matching frequencies and CTCSS/DCS tone settings to communicate. Zartek lists compatibility with several of its licence-free radio families, but factory channel numbering can differ between models, so matching the channel number alone is not always sufficient.

PC programming: The Zartek GE-254 USB programming cable is optional and sold separately. It is required when programming supported TX-8 settings from a compatible PC.

Water exposure: This model is not rated as splash-proof or waterproof. Keep the radio away from rain, excessive moisture and wet working environments.
