Optex HX40 Ajax Integration Kit – High Mount PIR including Anti-masking technology

The Optex HX-40RAM is a battery-operated outdoor PIR detector designed for high-mount installations where dependable early detection is needed around the approach to a building. It provides a wide 12 m volumetric detection area and includes active infrared anti-masking, making it a strong choice for perimeter and approach protection in residential and light commercial applications.

Built for outdoor stability

The HX-40RAM uses intelligent AND detection logic, dual signal processing, vegetation sway analysis and digital anti-masking to improve detection reliability outdoors. Optex also states that the HX-40 series is designed to help differentiate between humans and small to medium-sized animals, reducing nuisance alarms in real-world outdoor environments.

Adjustable to suit the site

This detector is designed to be mounted between 2.5 m and 3.0 m and covers up to 12 m at 85° with 94 detection zones. Detection length can also be limited to 9 m, 5.5 m or 4 m using the supplied area masking system, which helps tailor coverage to the installation site.

Wireless-ready design

The HX-40RAM is designed for use with a compatible wireless transmitter and battery setup. The manual notes that the transmitter and batteries are not included, and battery options include CR123A, CR2 or 1/2AA lithium batteries, depending on the transmitter configuration.

How is it used?

The Optex HX-40RAM High Mount Detector is ideal for protecting patios and other outdoor areas where furniture, pot plants or other obstacles may block the coverage of a standard low-mount pet-friendly PIR. Installed at a height of up to 3 m, it is designed to detect movement over and beyond these obstructions helping to ensure intruders are detected before they can pass through the area unnoticed.
