The manufacturer’s manual gives typical estimated ranges of approximately 300 m to 1.2 km indoors or in shopping centres, 500 m to 2 km in city centres or dense bush, 2 to 6 km in residential areas or across water, 3 to 7 km across farmland and 10 to 30 km from elevated positions with clear line-of-sight.

The ZA-723 is factory-programmed to communicate directly across all 16 channels with the Zartek TX-8, ZA-720 and ZA-721. The manual also specifies factory-setting interoperability on selected channels with the ZA-748, ZA-725, ZA-758 and ZA-708. Matching frequency and CTCSS/DCS tone settings are required.
