The Ajax LightCore (Dimmer) Jeweller is the electronic dimming core of an Ajax LightSwitch, designed for switching compatible lighting on and off while also providing smooth brightness adjustment. Pair it with a SoloButton (Dimmer) to create a complete touch-sensitive dimmer with local control at the wall and smart control through an Ajax system.

The no-neutral design makes it particularly useful for retrofit installations where a neutral conductor is not available at the switch position. The LightCore uses the European type 55 mounting format, so installation into a standard South African 100 × 50 mm / 4 × 2 wall box requires the IoT 4 × 2 Wall Box Installation Adapter.

If you already have a compatible SoloButton (Dimmer) and suitable type 55 mounting arrangement, the LightCore can be purchased on its own. Otherwise, choose the required touch panel and wall-box adapter using the Product Add-ons on this page.

How It Works

The LightCore connects to the power phase and the lighting load without requiring a neutral conductor. A SoloButton (Dimmer) attaches to the core and provides the touch-sensitive control surface and integrated dimming slider.

Brightness can be adjusted from the wall or through Ajax apps when the switch is connected to a compatible Ajax hub. The selected brightness level is remembered and restored the next time the lighting is switched on.

The completed LightSwitch can also operate locally without being added to an Ajax hub. Connecting it to an Ajax system adds remote control, schedules, timers and automation scenarios.

Before You Buy

• This product is the LightCore (Dimmer) electronic core only. A compatible Ajax SoloButton (Dimmer) touch panel is required to complete a standalone dimmer switch.
• For installation into a standard South African 100 × 50 mm / 4 × 2 wall box, add the IoT 4 × 2 Wall Box Installation Adapter.
• Supported loads are 8–150 VA for dimmable LED and incandescent lighting, and 20–150 VA for halogen lighting.
• Conventional fluorescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps and smart lamps with built-in control electronics are not supported.
• Use one supported lighting type on the dimmer; simultaneous operation with mixed lamp types is not supported.
• If a compatible lamp flickers or the dimmer does not operate correctly, an Ajax Bypass (Dimmer) [55] may be required and is sold separately.
• A compatible Ajax hub is required for remote app control and automation, but local switching and dimming can operate without a hub once the LightSwitch is correctly assembled.
• The LightCore is rated IP20 and is intended for indoor installation.
• Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician or installer.
